WEEKEND VOLUNTEERS:

We currently need Cursillistas to help plan the upcoming Women's Weekend on October 21-24, 2010 at Camp Overlook in Harrisonburg. We're looking for people to volunteer to sort palanca, haul luggage to the cabins, prepare and serve meals, help set up and break down at closing, help clean up, take leftover food to a soup kitchen, and sing/play instruments at closing.

Our Weekend Coordinators are Jean DePiro and Ernie Thompson of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Harrisonburg. (Their emails are jdepiro(at)bsccva(dot)com and ethompson(at)bsccva(dot)com respectively.) Please email them if you are interested in volunteering to be the
hands and feet of Christ on the weekend in any capacity - there are small jobs and big jobs, small time-commitments and larger ones that
can be tailored to any schedule. It is a wonderful way to follow in Christ's footsteps, being servants to one another.

FINANCIAL SPONSORS FOR THE WEEKEND:

Please also consider financially sponsoring part of the Women's Cursillo Weekend!  It's as simple as writing a check made out to Valley Cursillo, and emailing our treasurer, Pete DeSmit at desmitpa(at)jmu(dot)edu so you can send it to his address.  DONATIONS ARE VERY WELCOME AND VERY APPRECIATED!  In fact, financially sponsoring a candidate on a weekend is a great way for a group reunion to significantly impact the weekend.  If your group is sponsoring a candidate spiritually, please also consider helping to sponsor her financially as well.  The total cost for a candidate on this weekend will be somewhere between $90 and $120, depending on the number of women that attend.  A group reunion of 4 people could sponsor a candidate for between $22 and $30 per group reunion member.  Every little bit helps!  Thank you for your generosity in making Cursillo available to everyone.

OUTREACH TO PARISHES:

There are a number of parishes in our region where Cursillo is well-known and well-attended.  But there are also parishes that have few or no Cursillistas.  This weekend, we our specifically trying to reach out to two parishes:  St. Mary's and St. Francis.  If you would be willing to take a "field trip" to St. Mary's in Lovingston or St. Francis in Staunton to give a talk on Cursillo after one of their Masses, please contact our Pre-Cursillo Coordinator, Jack Ostrowski at godfather104 (at) netzero (dot) com. Thanks!

HELP WITH ULTREYAS OR WITNESS TALKS:

Would you like to help Cursillo in a time-limited, but very helpful way? Sign up to help set up and break down at the next Ultreya at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Harrisonburg on
Friday, September 24th at 7:30pm. Also, has God been working in your life in a new way? Have you felt his Spirit leading you in your Piety, Study, or Action? Consider sharing
how God is working in your life by giving a witness talk at an Ultreya. Contact Ann MIchel at  wahoomichels (at) gmail (dot) com or Cindy Montavon at cpm1212@aol.com if you
are interested.

STORAGE
TRAILER NEEDED:

Also, we are looking for a "Cursillo Trailer" that we can keep all of our Cursillo Weekend supplies in, in between weekends.  Cursillo materials are temporarily being stored free of charge at Sir Spotswood storage in Ruckersville, which has been kindly donated by Maureen and Henry Oswald.  Many, many thanks to Sir Spotswood and Maureen and Henry for blessing Valley Cursillo with this wonderful donation!  We do need to find a permanent home for our supplies, though, and a trailer is the perfect solution.  If you have a line on a cheap - or better yet, free - trailer, please contact Fran at ValleyCursillo@valleycursillo.com

Thank you!
