Welcome to Valley Cursillo,
The Catholic Cursillo Community in Central Virginia.
April 10, 2008
Dear Cursillo Community:
The Men’s Cursillo Weekend is just around the corner on April 17th- 20th at Camp Holiday Trails in Charlottesville (directions below). We already have 24 men signed up, with more applications in the works. (We have room for 32, so if anyone is interested – contact Marshall Slayton at marshall. slayton at bbrs.net). (no spaces, and use the @ sign) The team has been prayerfully meeting for months and everyone is very excited! Dave Russell and Ralph Batsche are coordinators extraordinaire!
Below is a list of the team and candidates. We ask that you prayerfully consider performing palanca (and writing letters) for each of the men this the weekend. Boxes to collect palanca letters will be placed in a conspicuous location at Incarnation, St. Thomas, Holy Comforter, St. John's and Blessed Sacrament and Shepherd of the Hills. Please place your palanca letters in these boxes by noon on Thursday, April 17th. Or you can give your palanca to a team member.
Closing will be held on Sunday, April 20th at 3:00pm. Please arrive no later than 2:30 - 2:45pm, so that no one will be seen - and please maintain quiet, since the candidates will be nearby having an outdoor mass. (There will not be mass at the closing). Please also consider bringing a snack or dessert to share at the reception after closing!
If you are interested in helping with making or serving food for the weekend (lunch Friday, dinner Saturday), or breaking down things after closing, please contact Ralph Batsche at rbatsche at aol.com. (No spaces and use the @ sign).
We are looking forward to a wonderful, prayerful weekend, to be followed by a Grand Ultreya – probably to be held May 31st. We’ll let you know the date as soon as we nail it down!
If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at fcslayton at embarqmail. com. (No spaces and use the @ sign). We look forward to seeing you at closing on the 20th!
De Colores,
Fran and Marshall Slayton

Arriving from the North of Charlottesville:
From 29 South, take the exit for 250 West/29 South Bypass/I-64, (heading towards Lynchburg and Staunton). Follow the bypass to the 29 Business exit. Continuation of Directions from North, South, East and West:
Drive west on Fontaine Avenue Extended and it will end with the Dept. of Forestry on the left, Trinity Church straight ahead. On the right you will see Reservoir Road, route 702, and our large brown Camp Holiday Trails sign. Follow the road for 2 miles (go slowly!), and you will enter the camp through a gate to the left of the camp sign. The Office is opposite the pond. To reach the Dining Hall, Med Korner and other main facilities, bear sharply to the left after the pond and office, up the hill. The dining hall will be the first building on the left. Follow gravel drive to right to reach Med Korner. Safe Driving!
